Club Rebuild
For many years Weoley Hill has discussed the possibility of raising enough funds to rebuild its clubhouse. We were having to patch up, year upon year a wooden structure which to put it mildly had 'passed its sell by date'.
About 2 years ago, with the club being in a good financial state, we decided the time was right to put our plans to fruition. We sort a grant from the National Lottery (which was eventually turned down for some reason), as well as successfully applying for grants from The Bournville Village Trust (our landlords) and various other bodies. This aligned with £15,000 of the clubs money as well as various financial donations from past and present players enabled us to start the project in September 2003.
A lot of the labouring work was done by club members at week-ends and in holidays. Although this was a lot more arduous than many of us envisaged, it was very enjoyable with a majority of members participating.
The attached photographs show the various stages of the project quite vividly.
Weoley Hill now has a brand new brick built clubhouse, that we will quite rightly, be very proud of.
